Timber Land Classification
Timber lands may qualify for agricultural classification when used in a bona fide commercial forestry operation. Guidelines are set by Florida law and reviewed annually.
Minimum Size Requirement
Timber property should be a minimum of 20 acres in size, planted in pines or containing a predominantly natural stand of pines.
Management Plan
A forestry management plan must be:
- Created and implemented for the property
- Followed continuously as part of the land use
- Kept on file with the Property Appraiser’s Office
Additional Guidelines
Larger tracts will be reviewed and approved based on:
- The merchantability of the timber
- Evidence of proper and ongoing management
- Includes both hardwood and mixed timber tracts
