Crop Land Classification

This classification includes land that is cleared and used for the planting and harvesting of crops such as corn, beans, and peanuts. These types of crops are normally rotated, and it is not uncommon to have a portion of the land fallow at various times during the year.

Minimum Acreage Requirements

• Crops such as hay, wheat, corn, or other field crops require a minimum of 10 acres.
• Crops such as peppers, cabbage, vegetables, etc., require a minimum of 5 acres.
• Production for personal use does not qualify.

Leased Property

• Property must meet minimum size requirements independently.
• The lease must be in effect prior to January 1st.
• A copy of the lease must be on file with the Property Appraiser's Office.
